I plan on applying DUS and straight to Summer to increase my chances.
Nope…not impossible. However, you don’t need to apply directly to summer unless that’s what you want. You can apply to fall with the summer option. They will evaluate you for fall first, and if you can’t get into fall, they will evaluate you for summer. So it gives you the shot of fall…unless you WANT to start in the summer. Plenty of kids do. The LEAP program is very good and students really like summer at Penn State. Keep in mind your senior year grades will not matter at all, although the rigor of your schedule will be sent with your application so the high rigor senior year courses do matter.
Thank you for the advice! But I have seen people with 3.6’s + being rejected, although my SAT score is high are my chances still very low? Also, I’m from a top public school in pa if that helps.
And some people with 3.6’s get in. It is nearly impossible to compare GPA’s across different school districts. Your SAT is high as well. I’d expect you to get in for summer at least. But, no one knows for sure.
That being said, either way, your chances aren’t “low”. You are kind of in the middle of the pack for DUS. It can go either way, but with your SAT I think that bumps you up. Again, no guarantees but you probably havend a decent shot.
Applying DUS Summer is a good idea. You could retake the SAT to try to have a bit more, since GPA is 2/3 but your other third is your test score and you still have time to bring it up - the higher it is, the better it’ll be.
