I have been accepted to Pepperdine, but I am not sure it's really for me. I am Catholic and somewhat religious but religion is not super dominant in my life. Is religion huge at Pepperdine? Are those that are not super religious looked down upon? I am also liberal and I hear that Pepperdine is dominantly conservative. Can a liberal survive the conservative bastion that is Pepperdine? Really what will determine if I can go to Pepperdine is finances. I don't think I can afford $50K a year (well actually I know I can't). Is Pepperdine worth the $50k a year (it may seem like a dumb question)? Does Pepperdine give good financial aid? Also what are the people like? I hear they are White, rich, religous, etc. I want to know so much about Pepperdine. Please add any information you know about Pepperdine. Also what happens at the April 10 reception in Malibu and who is going?

I’m going April 10th… I think it’s just a more extensive tour. I’m liberal & not overly religious.

Well finicial aid info should be on wavenet account right now if you applied for school this upcoming year.
But generally speaking, I think Pepperdine gives good need-based aid to those whose families’ incomes reflect that.

It all depends on your finacial situation. Pepperdine, I think, gives great fin aid! I’m middle class, and they gave me 23,000$ in grants…it definitly makes Pepperdine more affordable. I’ll still have to take out loans though.

I just posted a reply in the thread “Is is really that religious?” about religion/Christianity on campus that you should check out, but you definitely won’t be looked down upon for not being “super religious.”

My D is Catholic and attends Pepperdine. It has beena great experience. She has never felt that religion is an issue. She has friends from all faiths and some with none and all get along well. We are a middle ,on the lower side income and she has never felt "different. There are clearly some students who have money, but there are many on financial aid. She also has friends of all ethnic backgrounds. Anyway, it has been a great experience.

Oh and to answer the original question, for my D…most definitely Yes it has been worth it!

Well, my brother goes to Pepperdine and I know a lot about it so I can answer your question. First, I don’t know why everybody thinks Pepperdine is some overbearingly religious school. It’s not at all. My brother is Catholic and conservative, however the majority of his friends at school are not religious and they are liberal. A lot of students are white but it’s not like every single person you see walking around is going to be White. There are plenty of other races and different types of people at the school. I’d have to say that Pepperdine is definitely worth the money. My brother is currently a junior there and he absolutely loves it. About financial aid… That was the deciding factor for my brother. He was either going to be attending Pepperdine or Gonzaga. While Gonzaga was actually less money, Pepperdine gave him much better financial aid to the point where we only had to pay about 5000 out of pocket, but I’m sure that varies on your financial situation. Good luck, I hope you are able to go!

lol! wow that’s insane. Gonzaga offered me an insane scholarship and my mom for a while said that was going to be one of my only options if FAFSA didn’t come through for us. Luckily it did :D
