Is Pre med right for me?

I'm a senior in highschool, going to college in the fall. I've wanted to be a doctor for years but ive had second thought lately. I dont really love science. I like bio and physics but hate chemistry. On top of that, I strongly dislike math and struggle in that subject. English and history classes have always come easy to me, those are more my strong points. I have to work in science.

I cant see myself doing anything but medicine but im not really sure what else is out there. I want a job that helps people and is challenging, but i dont know if a science based career is right for me. I know its wrong to pick a career now but wether or not i do pre med is something that affects my college choices.

Any advice is really appreciated.

You don’t have to pick now. For what it’s worth, in college you can’t like physics without liking math. Physics is just applied math. And chem and o-chem are huge parts of the pre-med curriculum, so you’d have to get past that.

Once you get to college, go straight to the career services office. They live for folks like you. They have tools to help you figure out where your strengths are and what careers and majors are amenable to those strengths.

Since pre-med is possible at virtually any college, you really don’t have to worry about it. As long as you aren’t determined to do engineering, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to figure out alternatives to being a doctor.
