ALSO, how hard is it to get merit aid if you're applying OOS?
I'm trying to decide whether to apply to UNC since it seems most kids that go there are in-state...my main reason would just be for robertson tbh...if I understand right, there are two separate committees..are the odds of getting robertson better for unc than for duke?

Very hard to get merit at UNC outside of Robertson and morehead.

Robertson at UNC covers living and stipend. Duke’s just covers tuition. I would assume this would make both relatively similar…I don’t have hard numbers though.

Actually no longer true. From the Robertson website:

I didn’t know of the switch. When did they change it? The summer funding/laptop is new too?

The compensation value is now huge for the Duke Robertson program. I wonder why they increased the funding…I thought there was a high yield.

To answer the original question - I would guess all the changes to the funding would make Duke’s Robertson more competitive than UNC’s.

Looks like my information was very out of date, this is what someone posted last year:

"Financial Benefits: Both Moreheads and UNC Robertsons receive funding that covers not just tuition but room and board, a living stipend, and summer opportunities.

[Note: Duke Robertsons receive funding for tuition, room and board (as of fall 2008), and summers, but do not receive a living stipend.]"
