Is SAT retake worth it?

I'm currently a Junior in the UK and I just received my January SAT scores (first time).
I got 800 CR, 770 Maths, 760 Writing.
Do you think it is worth retaking the test in May?
Other posts have had malicious, sarcastic responses which are frankly unhelpful. I would appreciate it if you could evaluate whether retaking is a good option. I've heard of AI, but I still don't understand exactly what it is or which Adcoms use it. Any elaboration would be appreciated. Thank you.

I understand why you would want to retake. You are most likely three or 4 questions away from a perfect 2400, and you are certainly capable of it. However, to be quite honest, your scores are at a point where they are undeniably in the 99 + percentile. It would be hard to improve them significantly. I got a 2220 on my first one, and i was in the 99th percentile. I will be retaking, just because I know I can do better. If you are 100 percent positive that you can do a lot better (which you can’t really do because you are already so close to perfection) than retake the test. Your scores are SIGNIFICANTLY above averages for top schools like HYPS.
To sum up, only retake if you are CONFIDENT that you can raise your score significantly (maybe get one more 800 or boost by 50 points… a 10 point increase won’t matter.)
In regards to AI here is a link that is SUPER HELPFUL.

No need to retake the SAT - your score is very good. Use your time for other, more productive things. Good job!

I do not think there is any difference between 2330 and 2400, so I don’t think retaking.
Here’s am article (and link to calculator) on AI.[The Academic Index - Ivy League Admissions Key? - College Confidential](http://www.collegeconfidential.com/academic_index.htm)

Thanks so much for the helpful feedback! I got an 800 in SAT 2 Maths (Level 2), so I’m quite confident that I can raise my Math score. I heard from other people that 2350+ is good enough for HYPS, so I’m only 20 points below this boundary… Am I correct in saying that HYPS do not use AI as their main decision factor?

Honestly a 2350+ is fantastic, but it is NOT REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION. If you look at their averages, they are significantly lower for accepted students. As other people have stated, focus on other parts of your app such as extracurriculars that you particularly care for or find an internship or summer program. Additionally, AI is not their main decision factor, but as some sources have said, the colleges DO utilize it, so to be on the safe side use the AI calculator that I gave you in the link to measure your stats.
BTW FANTASTIC JOB GETTING such a high score. Best of luck!

Your score is outstanding, good enough for any U.S. school. Colleges want to admit students who have a life, not kids who are serial test takers, so retaking could work against you.

Yes I did hear that some Adcoms may think that test retakers with 2300+ scores are too score-obsessed. I suppose taking the prep time to do something useful may be a better use of my time. However, for schools that offer score choice, isn’t it advantageous to take it multiple times?

Not if your scores are all above 750. Congrats - You’re done with testing. Focus on doing well in challenging courses and try for a leadership role in one of your activities.
