so i an confused if sjsu is good for comp science or no.
i have heard from many that it is good while others say its not so iam damn confuse.
could some one just help me with it.ls do reply I'm in real need of advice

its a very good CS school, many Bay Area tech companies recruit there.

I work in the Bay Area and would say it has a good reputation. Apple hires more graduates from San Jose State than any other school.

CS is also one of the competitive majors to get into at SJSU. The CSU eligibility index threshold last year was 4550.

thank you and if i get an option between uci and sjsu what should i choose

There is a wide range of job positions in Apple: test engineers, development support engineers, customer support engineers, design engineers, research engineers, engineering managers,… Each position requires different skill level and has different salary compensation. Think about this before saying Apple hires more SJSU graduates than any other college graduates. If you cannot think of this then you should not go to CS because CS requires analytical skills.

cs won’t be a problem cuz i hv already done my c c++ java in my 12 th grade and i got a 90 on 100 so that can be managed.i just wanna know that if i get an option between sjsu and uci in future which one should i go for

Pick UC Irvine. It’s not even a “close” decision. San Jose State has a good regional reputation – to mean for employers in the greater San Francisco/San Jose area. That said, some highly regarded national technology employers, even those with major sites in the Bay Area, do not recruit at San Jose State. Perhaps with the exception of UC Merced and UC Riverside, the UC’s have a well deserved national reputation. They are significantly harder to get into than San Jose State. In general you’ll find stronger students, richer course selection, and possible intern/research opportunities at the UCs that would not be available at San Jose State. The UCs have strong brand recognition among employers throughout the United States. US News ranks UCI #42, in the same league as RPI, Northeastern and BU.

@fogcity, will OP find impacted CS classes at UCI, and how might that affect OP’s years-to-graduation, if you know?

I think a while back @ucbalumnus posted the UCs and CSU’s with impacted CS courses, but I cannot seem to find it. If anyone has this info, I’d be grateful for it. Thanks.

I think it’s a toss up. I have very positive experience wit SJSU. I think I underestimate the school. Other UCs may not always produce good CS. So if you go by UC that might not work.

I also want to add that UCI has very good CS department but SJSU is in Silicon Valley and has the proximity advantage.
I don’t remember interview anybody from UCI nor USC when I was in the Bay Area. The other UC was just ok, not great. Check each individual department.

so i think i am gonna keep sjsu and uci both in my list and keep on researching until i shortlist one
by the way jam an international student from india

any one knows wht sat is required to get into uci

Google for admission data for UCs last year.

got into sjsu for now will be waiting to hear from uci.
I would pick UCI, there is a huge amount of CS professors at UCI and they have a lot of specialization and research going on in CS. Overall it is a better prepared student body but SJSU will have a very good CS dept. You will see a lot of people start the program and drop out, though. This probably happens everywhere to some extent, but I think UCI has a better graduation rate.
However, I think sjsu has an edge in CS if you can graduate with honors. UCI may prep the students in other disciplines better, but not in CS.
My friend at CISCO paid over 100K for sjsu graduates, just for an example.
yes i will wait for uci to make my final decision.
@BrownParent how do you think nyu poly stands in front of these two universities

this is what really confuses me
