I realized about halfway into my first two years of nursing (not in the program) that nursing isnt for me. Ive talked to countless of nursing students already in the program and actual nurses themselves and they all say you gotta love what youre doing which at the moment im not.

I still want to be in the health sciences field and I want to help people. I saw that occupational therapy shared most of my nursing prereqs. Problem is since pre-OT isnt a major I have to declare one and I cant do nursing because I would have to apply to the nursing program which I dont want to do.

I searched my schools website for possible 4 year bachelor degrees and I came across sociology. Its not a hard science unlike chemistry or biology so there are many free electives for the first two years so I wont be as much as behind as I thought I would be. This also gives me room to take the pre-OT prereqs given by the school. (ex: medical terminology, pathology, abnormal psych, neuroscience etc.)

So far Im pretty set on this decision because on the pre-OT form it says I can pick ANY major but I just wanted to ask CC if the two subjects were remotely similar and if there is something else I could choose without being extremely behind. (chemistry and biology would require me to take 4 semesters worth of classes because the sciences were different from the nursing requirements.)

I was also thinking Dietetics/Nutrition as a 4 year before OT.
