Is Spring Open Campus Worth It?

I live on the West Coast, so flying to Massachusetts isn’t exactly as convenient as I wish it was. Do you think that students who don’t attend Open Campus will be at a disadvantage in terms of meeting new friends early on, learning about different programs, etc?

As someone who lives in close proximity to Wellesley, and has been to a fair share of their prospective events and those of others I would say no. Although these events are good for feeling out a school and the other people admitted, if you know this is where you will attend next year it shouldn’t make a big difference. Similarly, not everyone who attends will commit to Wellesley. It’s more for people to get informed on the oppurtunities and experiances present on campus and sway a student’s mind one way or another.

Most of all, Wellesley is an all girls school. To me that implies the creation of a sisterhood throughout our schooling and beyond. I highly doubt this one event will be the most important oppurtunity for making friends. Just think there are 4 months between now and orientation. That leaves plenty of time to connect with others or even find a roommate.

My advice: Join the class of 2019 FB group and stay up to date on posts if you’d like. The people there are extremely nice and i’m sure we’d all fill you in on anything you miss or need help with. Save the money for a day out in Boston during your first semester! (I highly recommend eating out at the North End, or anything here really. The possibilities are endless)

I agree. I wouldn’t fly in from the west coast for a weekend. Better to use social media to get to know your peers!
