Is starting and owning a clothing brand/line a good EC that schools want to see?

In junior year, my best friend and I started our own clothing brand, Plain Clothing Co. We make all the so called "swagger" clothes: crewnecks, vnecks, shirts, snapbacks, iphone cases and so on.

Do you all think this is a strong EC? I am hoping that this EC will really hit the admission officer once he/she reads my application (i made sure to give them the site too, so they can check up on it). I think it shows the leadership, creativity and time management that schools want to see in prospective students. Furthermore, we have had a lot of sales, and some were even international. When Mac Miller came to play a local show in Germany, we gave him a shirt and he liked it so much he wore it for the show. It was amazing.

Anyways, let me know what you think!
and if you want, check it out (also for validity :D) Plain Clothing — Home

:)

I’d say that’s pretty darn impressive! Do you guys make the clothes yourselves or do you order from a manufacturer and provide them with your designs?

I agree. Colleges will definitley be impressed to see that you have started your own clothing line. It shows that you have good business and leadership skills. It definitley shows that your creative and your good at communicating. The clothes look hella chill

to adlosastra, we make all our designs (and are in process of making way more) and we give them to our printing manufacturer and they provide us with American Apparel shirts with the prints already on them.

thanks to both of you ! :)

bump, any other thoughts?

Shows leadership and business skills, will definitely be a good EC, however you still need a good SAT score, other ECs and essays etc to go along with it.

chance me?

This is a great EC…how did you start it? Oh, and is there a store in the mall, or is it bought online?

Definitely can’t hurt. Like the others have said this is a huge plus.

@Foodlover001, we started it because both my friend and I were the only boys in our school who had a great interest in fashion and we both liked the same brands (supra, supreme, obey, vans, wesc and so on) and so we’re like whatever, let’s start our own! so that’s how it started. took us a long time and long sweaty nights to get here but we enjoy every minute of it. right now, we are only online but we are looking to put it in german stores here and zumiez for the fall 2012 collection!

also, please chance me? i’d really appreciate it  http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1301446-important-stressing-out-chance-me-gw-nyu-bu-usc-penn-state-uconn.html</a></p>

I think it’s definitely an asset. I actually applied to 3 schools/programs with essays stemming from a knit lingerie business that I started my sophomore year. Nothing radical, just something I kinda kept locally/to the people at my school as kind of a joke.
I’ve gotten into one of them thus far (Carnegie Mellon), and have yet to hear from the other two.
I’m not really active on my knitting activities anymore, but I enjoy hand painting/dying/printing t-shirts. Check out my site: [?EMPATHY TEES?](http://empathy-tees.■■■■■■■■■■/)
I made it recently, so it’s still under construction.

and @dandeelion, I’m curious how it is that you print your merchandise? do you purchase wholesale from like, American Apparel?

props to you, we need more female entrepreneurs.

haha thanks:)

That’s so sick, dude. Congrats. Thumbs up!

Woah! That’s cool. I was thinking of starting a clothing line myself, but don’t really know how. Do you guys order from a shirt printing company?

I do everything by hand. Isn’t that the point of making a clothing line on your own? haha
