I was wondering If starting the recruiting process after 11th grade is to late?
Depends on the sport and what level. There are a lot of school still recruiting and signing all during senior year.
My daughter did. She really had no interest before that.
Son did all of his program visits/camps summer after 11th grade for football. He had his 11th grade film available on Hudl and was done with all SAT testing by then so he had his grades and tests in hand when he went to visits. (he was looking at Ivy’s only for football).

My D18’s good friend just this week received a Top 10 D1 track scholarship and he’s got 3 other offers coming. He’s a senior in HS. So it’s never too late.
However, if you’re a 4 or 5 star football or basketball recruit, even soccer, then “recruiting” started a long time ago. Two of my D18’s friends received some sort of likely/commitment (not sure exactly) to an Ivy League school last year as either Spring semester Sophomores or Fall semester Juniors. I can’t remember when it was.
For golf, and thanks for the responses.
It’s hard to tell, because there are so many variables: academics, talent, need from the school’s perspective. I know one kid who walked onto an Ivy in golf, so it just depends.
Give it a shot, knowing that some programs will be full. But if you do decide to take the plunge, be prepared for a bit of hard work.
I’m not familiar with golf recruiting unfortunately, and I don’t follow the sport at all, but depending on your handicap and area/district/state ranking, contacting schools with golf programs that you have interest, might be a good idea. Let them know when and where you’ll be competing in the future.
Golf for women is a headcount sport at D1. If you are female and looking at D1 schools, this could be a good thing or a bad thing. Good if they are still looking for team members and have a scholarship left, bad if they are full because they can’t split scholarships.
It is certainly worth it to see what is out there, but you have to be open to schools you might never have considered.
