Is studying all summer a realistic goal?

Although I'll be taking the June SAT (1st time), I feel that I haven't studied as much as I should've. So I'm definitely going to be taking the SAT in October. Is studying all summer for this realistic or unnecessarily too much? Would it be better to start in late July or August? If anyone has any experience with this or advice please share! Thanks

It's going to depend on your own motivation, and any other activities you are involved in during the summer. Personally, I planned on studying last summer for the October test. In reality, I opened my books maybe twice the entire summer (and didn't spend much time on them when I did open them up) because I was working full-time, and just wanted to relax and go out with friends when I got home in the evening. I ended up cramming the Friday before the test.

If you can motivate yourself to commit to a study schedule, you'll be golden for the fall though.

studying all summer can definitely improve ur scores if u study hard.
my friend went from 1500s to 2040 after summer , tutor+self studying.
im going to work hard too, and get 2100 +
=D

I am going to study all summer. So, just think that you are all alone out there.

i plan on studying all summer... but i plan on studying very lightly and i only plan on like 1.5 hrs a day at most.

i planned on it but could not really do it last summer... lets see if i need to this summer as i might do so also

It depends. I mean, if you're thinking 3 hours a day 7 days a week, that's one thing. 15 minutes a day or a couple hours twice a week would be reasonable, I think.

It would be best to take a practice test a week. After the test you must, must, must go over the incorrect answers and write a description of why you got it wrong. This is the failsafe way to not make the same mistake again.

By doing this, I went from 1900 to 2150 during the summer at a SAT Prep class, but I got a 2130 on the actual SAT. I wasn't really satisfied so I decided to study on my own and I did what I already mentioned. My score in March was a 2240. I plan to take it again to get 2300+

Good luck!!

that is very smart... writing sentence/paragraph long descriptions

i will try that as it will help me read all this over in the future

It's very encouraging to know that you went from 1900 to 2150 after summer studying. I am a rising senior and plan to study pretty hard for the October SAT. The last time I took the SAT (March), I scored only 1840 and I am looking for 2150+. I will definitely try the method of writing why I got something wrong. That'll teach my brain to get stuff wrong! ;)

Another tip: study vocab! A lot of the CR and Writing sections contain a lot of hard vocab and/or require that you know alot of vocab. One of my friends went from in the 1700s to the high 1900s and all she did was study vocab for two months (although, CR and Writing were her worst subjects so any improvement was good improvement),
