Is studying for the SAT analogous with studying for the ACT?

Hello all! This coming fall I'll be taking the ACT for the first time in September but won't be able to retake my SAT until November because of the meet schedule for cross country. Over the last few weeks I've been doing some work out of the blue book and intend to start using Gruber's Complete SAT Math Workbook sometime soon. Both of these books are designed specifically for the SAT, but I was wondering if this would suffice as prep for the ACT? Has anyone had any luck doing so? If not, should I run to Barnes & Noble and pick up the official ACT book? Thank you kindly!

I studied for around a week for the sat and then had the act a week later and I saw a 3 point jump… However, this could be attributed to having a familiarity with the test and not the studying. The only section that I feel might need review for most is science.
