or education? I want to major in psychology and hopefully MINOR in dance. Also, how much of a party school is it? And what SUNY do you think is the least of party school?

I would guess that SUNY Geneseo is probably the least party school of the SUNY’s. You might want to consider New Paltz as a psych major and dance minor.

Brockport also has a strong psych and dance program.

Forget New Paltz for dance…very few dance courses and nothing challenging…and according the the department head, that program will not expand any time soon, and will do its best not to shrink!

Stony Brook and Binghamton have decent dance choices for non-majors. Buffalo doesn’t offer anything past intro courses for non-majors and doesn’t offer a minor. And Albany has very few courses as well. Brockport has a great dance program, Potsdsam has many choices…but mostly modern. Fredonia is an excellent choice, but you may be competing with BFA majors for resources. Many schools have active dance clubs, and depending what type of dance your interested in, you may have options off campus depending on the community.

The least party school…hard to say…depends who you ask and what you mean. Geneseo lost a kid last year who died because of binge drinking…Brockport had a drunk student fall from a second story window and has serious injuries, many of the college towns are full of bars that have always looked the other way and support underage drinking. Students will party, and you can choose not to be a part of it. Some schools like Albany have a reputation as a praty school…an overdone generalization…but Albany is a college town with many different colleges and lots of bars…so it’s not hard to find students drinking and the like.
