Next year in high school I am considering taking AP Art History and either AP World or AP Euro. I have not taken any AP classes so I do not know if that may be to overwhelming to take two. I get A’s in my classes and can be disciplined with myself when I need to be however, I have no experience with AP classes and was looking for some insight. Any help is greatly appreciated.
If you’ve done well in advanced versions of those subject areas in the past, you should be fine. It is well-known that both AP World and AP Euro give heaping masses of homework, but you should be fine with that. Talk with your guidance counselor if you are unsure.
Okay thank you so much!
I wouldn’t think so. I’m a sophomore this year taking 2 AP classes: Gov and Chem. I haven’t taken a bit of regular chem before, and I still have an A in AP Chem. Gov is relatively easy too. AP classes differ in difficulty, but 2 shouldn’t be too overwhelming.
I worried about this as well, but it didn’t turn out to be a problem for me. I’m taking AP Psychology and AP English Literature and this is my first year taking APs. I went into Psych with no previous experience in it except my own general interest and it’s the class I have the highest grade in this semester. So I’d say if the APs are something you’re up to and have a good amount of interest in, then it should be fine!
Its not so much the quantity that is the issue as it is the interest level. You are more likely to do well in subjects you have interest.
^ As long as you’re interested - and aren’t doing the classes simply for transcript/GPA boosts - you should do fine in the classes! Each option sounds like fun, although keep in mind there will be a lot of analysis and writing for both classes because they are history-based
A lot of individuals take AP World while they have no interest in the subject merely because it is an AP Class. AP World is a very broad class covering a huge amount of information. My D opted to not take AP World because she did not like the subject matter and later took APUSH. Many students get lulled into taking AP World for all the wrong reasons. My S is taking the course but he loves history and even for him the first 8 weeks he did not like.
I took 2 APs for the first time last year, and I am taking 5 this year. Both years went/are going fine for me
