Is taking SAT during Fall of Senior Year Fine???

I plan to take the SAT once during spring of junior year and once during fall of senior year, is it even possible to take it fall of Senior Year??? Or is that too late??? I want to apply to Pitt as early as possible because my GPA is on the lower end due to a bad freshman year.

Why not take it fall of Junior year first? Don’t forget to work on practice tests in advance.

The SATs should be offered once a month where you are (or at least once every other month). I took my SATs twice-- once in January (I think) and once in March. You have to wait 30 days to get your score after you take the exam, but then you can sign up for the next available test date if you like (which is what I did). I would recommend taking the SATs no later than spring of junior year or early into the summer after. If you are worried about your GPA you will want to apply in the summer before many applications have been put in.

AwesomeOppossum - so you are saying not to take the SAT’s in fall of senior year??? I will take the PSAT first see my score then the plan is to decide after PSAT when best time to take SAT is. The dates offered are October 6th, November 3rd, December 1st, January 26th, March 9th, May 4th, and June 1st this junior year. So based on this what dates are ideal to take test???

^ Take it whenever you feel you are ready.

I recommend taking it once in the winter and if you don’t do as well as you’d like then re-take in the spring. You could take it in the fall of your senior year, but try to avoid it if you can. That way you can focus on writing essays for college and getting those apps in on time.

The biggest issue is that most applications have a late December or early January deadline. If you take your SAT in the fall, you are only giving yourself 1-2 months to figure out which colleges you can apply to. THEN you have to work on your applications.

If you instead already know your SAT scores by the summer, you can narrow choices and work on your applications all of the fall. Which is what yankeesfanatic also suggested.
