I'm giving up on SAT so I'm putting all my energy into ACT.
I will be taking it for the first time in Sept, but I'm not so sure how good will I do, so I might need to retake it, and the next possibly time is Oct 22th, my question is, is it too late to take it since I'm applying ED to Penn and the deadline is Nov 1st?

“Early Decision candidates should take these examinations either during the junior year or in the summer before the senior year, but no later than November 2010. Early Decision candidates who opt for November examinations must rush their test scores to us.”

I would assume it would be the same this year, but replace 2010 with 2011. No offense, but that was pretty easy to find on their website.

For the future, with questions like this, you should go to the schools admissions website (I.E. Google -> University of Pennsylvania Admissions)

Well thanks for the quote… I’ve seen that before but I’m just confused that by saying ‘no later than nov’ assumes taking it in Oct is ok? But it takes 2-3weeks to get the result…which is beyond the deadline…

It’s possible, but they might reject you with your old score before they get it though. Depends on whether or not they reviewed your app before the day they receive the new score.

I suggest you do the one in September, hopefully you will get a much higher score. Submit that one, and then if you want to increase it a point, risk taking the one in November. But ACT with writing takes like 4 to 8 weeks(correct me if I am wrong)to get all scores including the writing section. You REALLY do not want to wait last minute.

Thank y’all for the advice, I will try my best to do the sept one, hope I’m lucky enough to get a 30+ so that I won’t need to take it again :)
