Hi. I got accepted to TCNJ and was wondering if the college would be a good fit for me. I am in the top 5% of my class, got a 2100 on the SAT, and am interested in stuff like chess and piano. I am also taking many AP classes right now. I want to be doctor most likely and am probably going to be a Chemistry major. Knowing this much about me, do you think that I should go to TCNJ? Will the student body be like me (I don't want to be surrounded by idiots). By the way, I got a scholarship for 6500 a year here.

I also got accepted to Rutgers SAS Honors Program and got a full ride at Richard Stockton College. What is the best choice? Thanks in advance.

TCNJ’s a solid school. It’s a popular choice for many students in my school and the few I know going are pretty serious about their academics and do pretty well in school. I’ve heard their science departments and med school placement rates are pretty good as well. It’s small so you’ll get more individualized attention. If you’re definitely looking to go to med school, it sounds like a great, affordable option.

Yes, it definitely sounds like a solid choice, unless you can’t afford ANYTHING, inwhich case I guess Richard STockton college is your only choice. TCNJ is an excellent school.

Frankly, I would take a look at Rutgers SAS Honors program before deciding, if you haven’t already done so. You’ve probably seen the debate throughout CC, but IMHO Rutgers has the name and is a major research institution that can provide a number of opportunities that TCNJ cannot–especially for Honors students. I recruit at RU occasionally, and have been very impressed with the caliber of those students in the honors program. As for Stockton, I have a niece there who is not happy. Small, rather isolated campus that is not well known outside of NJ.

I would go with TCNJ. I know several kids there (including my nephew) and it seems like the students are satisfied with their profs and their classes. The campus does empty out a little bit on the weekends, but if you get involved in some activities, there is still plenty to do.
