Is that stupid?

Hey everyone. So all of my college decisions were out past few days. And, to be honest, I was still in despair. I got rejected by all of the colleges that I wanted to go! (This is so embarrassing.) After a long discussion with my family, we decided to go to a decent Big Ten school next year, which I seriously don't want to go. The school size, the campus, the weather, the people...I just hate everything.

You may ask, "Why did you apply in the first place?" I applied because my parents forced me to. I've also gotten into some private colleges that at least I am happy to go, but then my parents ate their words. They won't let me because "They are apparently too far away" and "This Big Ten School is awesome..." and "Cheaper so that they could buy a house"...

I wanted to transfer to another school as a sophomore. But is that stupid to start thinking about transferring even I haven't give that school a try? Would that upset my parents because I'm being selfish? I don't know. Please help me out.

I mean, all of my friends are excited about their college, but I am only scared and worried my next four years.

@Katrina: I was offered some scholarship from a private school, but it is still not as cheap as the Big 10 school. But Thank you for the suggestions. I appreciate it.

Student loans are worth it if you truly believe the private college will be a better experience for you, both academically, socially, and for your career. Split the difference between what your parents are willing to pay, and what you’ll take out in loans. Of course, be reasonable–but for example, owing $10k to pay off over 5-10 years is not so bad ($100-$175 with interest per month.)

You should still give it a try, you might end up liking it! That’s actually what happens with a lot of ppl who didn’t get into their favorite colleges. :O
