So I’m currently a sophomore taking AP psychology as an elective. At first, I took the class to boost up my GPA but although it’s easy I am wondering if I should take the AP test. If it helps I want to major in either Biochemistry or Biology and I want to go to a college like Notre Dame, Boston University, or the University of Maryland. So should I take the AP Psych exam?
It depends. My son is at a SUNY and he earned 3 credits to fulfill a gen ed by taking the test. Our school doesn’t allow you to take the course and not the exam, so that’s not an option. If you have the choice, you should look at the schools you are interested in and see if they give AP credit and what score is accepted.
Unless money is an issue, I personally, can think of no valid reason for a non-senior to not take the exam. You may get college credit. If you bomb the exam, you don’t have to report it on college applications.
In Florida AP exam scores are reported on transcript ( at least in our county). If you want to go to a competitive school, show that you can compete and succeed.
