I’m currently studying for AP Psychology, for example, but am neither majoring nor minoring in it.
Do I get ANY benefit from taking this test? I will be an econ student at CAS.
Thanks <3 love you guys soooso much

You have to take the test to be enrolled in the class. If you decide not to take it, you’ll be forced to drop the class (at least in my school). Even if credits don’t transfer, AP courses are a good way to increase your course load, and dropping a class looks terrible on your transcript.
Not every school requires that students taking AP-level courses take the exam. That is not the question OP is asking.
OP, take a look at the gen ed requirements for your intended school. It may be that earning a high enough grade on the AP exam will fulfill one of those requirements. If not, it may count as an elective ad it doesn’t hurt to have an extra class in case you need it.
Unless it will impose a significant burden, if you think you’ll do well on the test it’s worth spending the $90 or so dollars to potentially gain college credit for a course.
guys… I asked in the NYU forum for a reason.
is it true that AP credits give you priority when selecting teachers/classes at NYU?
Chill @ooitslit…why do you sound so salty? To answer your question no…theres no priority in teachers or classes if u take an ap test…i mean psych may fill in as a gen ed. If no one knows the answer you should call admissions. This is CC not your 100% answer forum.
@Sassygogo HAHAHAAHHHHHAHHAHA
According to NYU’s credit policies you can get elective credit for it, and that would probably help since 4 general electives are required.
@annana thank you!
