Is the city a good place to live?

Hey I am an international student.
I don't know much about the US geography.
Is the city a pleasant place to live?
weather?climate?

I suppose it depends on what you are used to and expecting. Atlanta has moderate temperatures (winters mild, summers not too bad although we did have a couple of weeks recently with 100 degree temps - that was very unusual. Winter rarely sees any ice or snow. You can expect 70's - 80's weather most of the time...with summers in the 90's..and winters in the 60's.

Different parts of Atlanta vary widely. Be careful where you explore - some parts of town are not very good and caution especially should be used after dark. The Emory area, however, is a nicer part of the city, so is the city of Decatur (around the square which has over 30 restaurants, shops, a courthouse, postoffice, library, and much more) - The city of Decatur is only a few miles from Emory's campus and The Cliff (Emory's shuttle) goes there from something like 6am - 8pm Monday - Friday every 20 minutes. You can access the Marta rail line in the city of Decatur which will take you to many places in Atlanta. The state of Georgia has a lot of trees - and the Emory area has retained this green environment. Since the campus has a medical and law school and hospital, CDC, and other professional buildings around it - you will see a lot of professionals in the area (and a lot of traffic).

Wow, winters in the 60's? I've been in Atlanta for 20 years, and that is not an accurate portrayal. I've seen single digits, teens, and a LOT of 20's and 30's every winter. 60 would be a balmy day for winter. December, January and February all have averages in the 50's, with very cold nights. Pearl is correct on the Emory area, very nice and relatively safe.

true. I suppose I'm going by last winter's temps - it stayed warm for a long time with very little cold weather (to me), but that is correct - we certainly have had below 30's .

what means 60,30,70,80?
We don't use that to describe temperature here.
Here winter is about-20 centigrade.
Summer is about +20 centigrade.
