Is the Common App's Transfer Midterm Report Necessary?

I am currently attending community college and have completed one semester. I am applying to transfer to a few schools for the fall '17 semester around now. It is a bit early, but with my circumstances and grades, I think it’s worth a shot.

I was wondering if the Common App’s Mid Term Report is completely necessary; most of my deadlines are really close, and I would only be in class for like 2-3 days before I would have to submit this report if I were to fill it out with this semester’s grades. I probably won’t have grades from the first 2 days in class.

Then logically, it would only make sense to submit it with grades from the previous semester. But wouldn’t this be redundant, because my official transcripts would reflect all of these grades?

A little confused by this, especially because most schools resolutely require this form. Can anybody shed some knowledge? Thank you ~~

You need to ask the schools you’re applying to specifically about this question. Some of the ones I’ve spoken to said that I should send it in after the application once I’ve gotten some sort of quantifiable progress.
