Is the commonapp essay worth more or is a supplement essay worth more

Basically for Princeton my commonapp essay answers prompt #2 nicely, and it is very well written. I've written something else answering prompt #1 but I don't like it nearly as much.

My options are to just submit those, having a good commonapp essay and an average supplement, or to use the commonapp essay for the supplement and write something else for commonapp. But I'm not really sure what else to write for a commonapp essay and it won't be as good.

Which essay is given more weight?

Neither. I believe Princeton (and most other top private colleges) uses a holistic method of review. Both essays give them the full picture of you and neither is assigned a points value.

I don’t mean points value.

Is there one essay that Princeton reads first? One that gives Princeton the first impression of you?

seriously…

just write the best essays you can for both. done

I would guess the Common App essay is the essay that’s first read.

Do your best not to turn in anything mediocre because that could be what tips you out of admission. What is read first probably depends on the style of each admissions officer.

Mhmm… I was thinking of just using my Caltech Feynman essay for the Commonapp for Princeton as that’s very well written. But idk if it would be a good idea using an essay written for a tech school for a liberal arts one…
