I am a Korean living in Georgia. I have decent stats, ec, etc. The million dollar question is: Would I be at a disadvantage when the adcoms look over my apps BECAUSE I am from Georgia... or would i be at an advantage BECAUSE the nyu is looking for geographic diversity...?
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

apologies if i misled u with "...dirty southerner..." (lol) i'm sure it was eye catching...

You definitely won't be at a disadvantage, NYU is not a state school, it's private and people from Georgia are not overrepresented here. You'll have a some edge because of where you're from, but that alone won't get you in.

Trust me, it won't hurt you. In NYU admissions, it's certainly a lot better to be from Georgia than NY, NJ, or CT.

what about coming from south florida....no nevermind....i doubt that south floridians are under represented...lol

I dont think there are lots of people from south Florida, I could be wrong, the farther away, the lower the number of people, if I remember at orientation, thats how it sounded

NJ1grl: Florida is acutally one of the more popular home states of NYU undergrads (right after NY, CA, NJ, and possibly CT) so it's well represented. I admittedly don't know about the specific regions of Florida, but Florida as a whole is NOT underepresented at NYU, so I don't think being from there will help one in admissions.
