What do I get out of orientation besides being able to register early? It's hard to justify the price... Couldn't I get most of the info myself? I wouldn't mind going, but it would have to be worth it.

Registering early is a pretty huge deal since that could be the difference between you getting into the class that you need for your major. That by itself justifies its price in my opinion.
The information given at orientation is pretty general information that you would be able to get if you looked online and asked around, but there are little tidbits that are useful.

Yeah, from what I’ve heard, early registration really helps you get classes that first semester. Departments hold openings for some of their important intro classes and it’s first-come-first-serve for the people in orientation.

Honestly, registering for classes early is worth it, especially if you’re in a major that requires a lot of prerequisites or you need to take placement tests. Having to wait around another couple of quarters until the class is offered again is a pain in the ass and can set you back in terms of graduating on time.

BUT if you don’t really know what you want to major in, then I guess it’s not a huge deal.
