Is the practice ACT that they give you just as hard as the real ACT?

First off, I am a sophomore in high school. I got a free standard practice ACT (the one everyone gets when they register) from my school because it was a three day weekend and the end of the semester so I had no homework and I wanted to try it. So I just finished and I got a 30 composite (29E, 31M, 27R, 32S). I was pretty suprised to get that high of a score for sophomore year and was just wondering if the ACT they give you is just as hard as the real test.

it’s a real test

I took the Prep Act and don’t think I did so well, there was many questions I didn’t answer. One main reason was time limit, which is very short. Now experience taking the ACT I’ll know next time I take the test to speed through it more than taking time. Second was the math portion… what went wrong there? As a junior in high school I have not took geometry nor plan to ( it would probably help me on the ACT, though taking geometry in 12th grade… and taking ACT in 11th, wouldn’t really help. Plus I’m currently taking pre-calculus and will be taking Ap calculus next year). It was overwhelm with geometry on the test, and I was highly dissapointed about that. On my own time I may have to look over a few geometry things.
I mean we have learn so much algebra and calculus and one class of geometry in our life and they place about half of the math portion with geometry. It was ridiculous. Hope when we take the real test at school I’ll do a lot better.

I took a free practice ACT sophomore year and got a 31. Junior year I got a 32 on the real thing. Scores on both were roughly the same.

Coolbrezze: I would not bother taking Geometry. There is some Geometry but, not enough to waste a whole year of taking a class. If I where you just get a prep book and, go over the Geometry problems. There aren’t that many (9 coordinate geometry problems) and, also aren’t that hard to figure out.
