I was wondering if it actually matters that much when applying for schools. I’m applying to a few selective schools that don’t necessarily require it (UVA) and private schools (American and Gettysburg). Do schools also give out scholarships for good scores on it?
There is a thread “Why SAT Subject Tests are required” or something like that, read it. I’ve heard over and over that when a school says they are “Recommended”, they really mean Required, they just can’t or don’t want to actually require it because of the cost. Georgetown Admissions Dean said in the presentation, “Do you really think that these are optional, if we recommend them?” So if they are “recommended”, take them. If they are “considered”, send in your scores if they are good (most on here say anything 700 or above). I don’t know how they affect merit aid but I imagine they would, if they are good scores.
