I don't plan on transferring at this stage, but if I did decide to would my average ACT score hurt me?

Well, as you can see, the bold command doesn’t work in thread titles. However, if using those bold tags was a way to draw attention to your thread, then kudos to you for devising a creative method to attract posters.

Just messing with you.

Anyway, on to your question. Honestly, I can’t give you one definitive answer. SAT and ACT scores for transfers vary by colleges.

For instance, I was recently accepted into UGA (my safety school) and wasn’t even required to submit standardized testing scores for admittance. On the other hand, I’m also applying to emory, an institution which requires all transfers to submit standardized testing scores. However, since I’m applying for junior standing, my SAT scores will hold much less weight than say if I were to apply after my freshman year since I now have proved what I’m capable of achieving in school since I’ve been in college for a while.

In summation, the sooner you apply after starting college, the higher level of importance these tests will hold in your application and the more a bad score could possibly hurt you (assuming, of course, that the school actually requires these test scores.)

Depends on the college. At most of the top private colleges, scores will matter. At many state schools they won’t.

Scores do matter if transferring as a freshman or sophomore. Scores matter less and college GPA matters more when transferring as a junior.

Are we required to submit both SAT and SAT subject tests ?
