I’m an international student who doesn’t have many research opportunities and can’t do summer internships in the US (as you get paid a stipend) but I found this summer research coarse at Brown’s pre college, it requires a special application, is 4 weeks long and gives you a chance to do an independent research project.
This program sounds perfect to me, Im genuinely interested in the research topics, and think summer camp is a good way to be more independent. But people say that pre-college summer camps have little-to-no bearing on college applications. While I find the course interesting I also want to make sure it’s useful to me in the future, especially because I’ll be going to a different country for it.
Would doing summer internships/volunteering locally at my country be better than doing research? I want to be a STEM/pre med major in the future and maybe apply to some BS/MD programs…
