I've searched the forums for an answer, but all I got were conflicting responses. I wrote a Common App essay that I'm very pleased with - it shows both the way I think and discusses my specific plans for the future, given my experiences. It's also about a relatively interesting subject that I think few other applicants have touched on. I've noted that the wording on the Harvard supplement makes it sound like the supplementary essay is not even expected by the admissions officers, except in cases where the student feels as though he/she needs to let them know more. In my case, I think my Common App essay alone is a pretty good portrayal of my qualities, and I also attached a resume detailing academic and extracurricular information. Is it really necessary to send a supplementary essay? I personally don't feel as though I need to, but I don't want the lack of an additional essay to jeopardize my chances.

Thanks for any input. :)
