Is there a benefit to claiming AP credit?

If one were to claim credit for AP Biology and then begin their freshman year with higher level biology courses would that applicant be looked upon more favorably to medical schools than a student who re-took introductory biology in college? Or would it be in the best interest of the student to re-take the introductory biology course?

Also would taking courses at a community college be less favorable in a medical school application (courses that are pre-med reqs AND courses that aren't pre-med reqs)?

The medical school would not care since it is strongly recommended the student takes upper level biology courses anyways. It depends on the student whether or not he/she wants to take the intro class in addition to upper level bio. The one thing about intro classes is that they usually cover the broad range of topics tested on the MCAT whereas an upper level class might go in depth int one area.
