I'm a college class of 2013 applicant and have come here to seek the knowledge of the wiser and more experienced parents of former college students. My question follows:

Many people on college confidential have gotten emails from the financial aid department of certain colleges and then soon afterward receive likely letters or are at a later time offered admission. On the hand, some applicants who apply for financial aid do not receive email regarding incomplete financial aid application.

So from previous years or evidence from this year, does being contacted by the financial aid department of a certain college correlate with admission to that college?

Also as final note, I decided to ask this question because in many subforums many CC members have been asking the same questions so it'll be nice to put an end to this speculation.

OP: I doubt there is anything anyone can write on this issue that isn't just going to just stress you out more than you are already stressing. I realize this is empty (and probably useless) advice but try to stay calm just a little bit longer. And good luck!

As others have said, the answer is probably sometimes yes and sometimes no. Last year, S was accepted at 6 schools. He got a pre-acceptance inquiry from the FA folks at one, and only one, of those schools.

Two schools requested further information from us, which we sent promptly. My D was waitlisted at one school (and not admitted) and declined at the other school.

I received a personal email from JHU financial director about missing documents and the email ended like this: "Please provide this information as soon as possible, so should you be admitted you will receive your financial aid offer at the same time as your acceptance". Any idea? Anyone's son or daughter every get an email from JHU?
