Is there a lot of events going on at DU and around Granville?

I’m looking into Denison as a target school, but I’ve heard a lot of opinions saying that they’re isn’t a lot going on at Denison and in Granville. Is this true? I like to keep busy and have fun, and I am seeking the true college experience. Are there any fun evens in and surrounding the university?

Parent here – from what I’ve seen – plenty to do on campus and off. Film society does movies, classic and newer releases, there is always music, from local bands to acapella to visiting artists (my kid heard Wynton Marsalis last year as part of the Vail series), plays (I think he saw student production last year of Rent), art openings, plus student organization events/parties (recently had all-campus “formal” party), and sports. And there is an active party scene for those interested. Columbus is less than 30 minutes away, there are monthly free student tickets provided to the Columbus Symphony, the first year program sponsors regular events in Columbus, from zoo, to galleries and shopping, to MLS soccer. Granville itself is a charming, small village, with a favorite ice cream place (Whits), and a number of restaurants where students go for a break. It is not a bustling metropolis, but has the basics, including CVS. Among my kid’s friends, I have never heard a complaint there isn’t enough to do – more that there isn’t enough time to do everything they want to do.

Yes, thank you so much!!

Just popping back to add – D Day is a big school-sponsored concert event in the fall, you can google it to see who has been on campus the past few years.

Something which is vaguely related – President Adam Weinberg is a popular presence at campus events. He attends all the sporting events, plays, concerts, gallery openings etc. on campus that he can. I had no idea who he was the first time I chatted with him, I figured he was just a parent on the bleachers. He is a good listener, and good company!
