Is there a tuition fee for living at home?

I am planning on transferring to Ut arlington. When i went on collegeboard and the college's website, it said it cost $3,680 to stay at home.
but is that an assumed cost like transportation and personal expenses or do they really charge you for that plus your tuition?

It’s the college estimating the cost of your staying at home.

No, the school will not charge you for staying at home.

But your parents might :-)

Do you really think a college could charge you for living at home?

I can see how she might think it Mom2K with all the other fees (athletic, health, transportation) some colleges list out! It does sometimes seem like they are charging you for anything they can think of.

absolutely no whining 101, pick up your junk 101, how to wash clothes 101, survival cooking 101… man up 101. Yep, that is about the right price!

Well, when I was a little kid, nobody would have imagined charging for plastic bottles of water. I’m not sure that we should be giving these guys ideas …

The OP’s question seems odd to many of us, but I have found that it is a very common question. I can’t tell you how many families thought the COA was really the actual cost, even when there was a large amount in the budget for “living at home with parents.” Financial aid can be confusing! :)

Thanks you guys. I honestly just wasn’t sure. I found it really weird that they would even put that, so I was second guessing myself that they’d charge u if they could $$$. Anyways i’ll be talking to a college advisor soon, so I can just figure all this mess out.
