My son has gotten merit scholarship money at every other school he has applied to but I hear State doesn’t really offer much for merit scholarship plus so many kids are very smart at the school. I feel that he got scholarships at the other schools because of all of his outside activities in addition to just his good grades - as that is how the Pisgah Scholarship is awarded but is there any hope for anything at State? He did apply from the link they sent but a lot of the arts stuff that he does required him to be active on campus now and he is very active but in high school still, so I don’t think any of that will apply. Just wondering if there is any hope at all? My oldest son was told there would be tons of scholarships at UNCC and he was a top student and never saw a dime! So, I am wondering if we will go down that road here too.
My understanding, in general, is that for freshman there is very little or no merit based scholarship. Departments have scholarship money, but it is based off performance at State. From a practical standpoint, I have 2 sons there now and a third recently accepted. No merit money has flowed in our direction.
I feel your pain.
