Is there any point in me applying to Tufts and/or Boston College?

<p>I am really worried about my 27 on the ACT. My super scored ACT is a 29 so that may help. I have a 3.87 uw GPA, great ec's, and a great essay but I feel my ACT automatically ruins my chances. Is there any point to applying to these schools?</p>

<p>If you have around a 4.1-2ish W GPA then BC is definitely in your range. Of course teacher recs are important and all too. Any volunteer hours would definitely help too, after all BC is a Jesuit school. Tufts i think is a little more competitive numbers wise but you definitely have a chance for both so go for it! good luck!</p>

<p>Tufts isn’t likely, but you have about average chances at BC… If you could get that ACT up to 30, it’d help alot. You might also wanna look into BU (match), Northeastern (safety), and NYU (reach). Best of luck!(: </p>

<p>Could you take the SAT? Maybe you would score higher on that.</p>

<p>Not Tufts or NYU, but BC and BU are a match. Also, I think Northeastern would be a match, not safety. If you can raise the ACT to a 32/get a 2150+ SAT then you might have a chance at Tufts & NYU depending on your Extracurriculars.</p>

<p>My advice is just prepare for the ACT or SAT and take one, it’s a 4 hour test that tests mostly reasoning skills that are already necessary to succeed in high school. That is, if Tufts is your dream school.</p>

<p>How is NYU a reach? 40% of the applicants get into the school. Only 64% of acceptances are in the top 10%. The average GPA for acceptances is 3.6 (he is 3.87), and more than half the acceptances score UNDER 29 on the ACT…</p>

<p>Might look at Holy Cross-SAT optional and Jesuit school as is Boston College.</p>

<p>Some of the top LAC’s are test optional if you want to go that route.</p>
