Is there anyone who has done the same before? like increase ram and hardrive on APPLE Store online?

Will they use re-furbished ones for all customized models?

I am really worried...

I am really worried...

you're gonna get a new one just like anyone else.

relax...

no -- the refurbs are in the Apple Clearance and Refurb section of the site. I've ordered refurbs from Apple before and have never had any problems, but some people have complained of problems like scratched refurb laptops and sent them back. But thats never happened to me.

If you order a new Apple on the website, you'll get a new Apple. You get what you are supposed to get.

And I'd just buy the extra RAM on Crucial or OWC and install it yourself, its really really easy to install Ram on Macs. Here's an article on how to do it: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303721

Installing your RAM is easy and cheaper since Apple overcharges for RAM. Just make sure it is compatible and get something with a lifetime warranty because sometimes RAM can go bad. I usually buy from Crucial, but Other World Computing has been highly recommended to me by several people. I tend not to buy necessarily the cheapest RAM, but pay an extra 10-20 bucks for RAM with a warranty and from a brand I trust.

And installing RAM yourself doesn't violate the warranty policy on the Macbook but things like installing a larger harddrive yourself will -- so for HDs and things like that, I usually just buy it customized from Apple and then up the RAM myself.

Getting a new hard drive for the MACBOOK PRO will void the warranty, not on the macbook.

ny -- ahh, you're right. I had totally forgotten that the macbook HD was made so easy to remove and replace. I wish they would do that on the MBPs as well, but instead those are a major pain to remove.

And there is a macbook HD/RAM upgrade video from macworld.com that is on Youtube, it shows how easy it is.
