Should I buy my mac from Bestbuy?

I ask because I always feel like I'm getting ripped off when I buy something from BestBuy. That, and also I'm not sure if I'd get the apple promo if I bought one from BB. Does it matter? I don't have an apple store in town.

Same price but the apple store offers free tech support when you buy from them i think and since its their product i would go with apple.

Check into your school’s bookstore. The education pricing is usually cheaper than BB. At my Ds school, the bookstore offered the same promo as Apple and they also threw in a free printer.

Just make sure you can get the educational discount + free $100 appstore gift card. The prices are exactly the same.

Make sure you can get the Apple college student promo. Also, when you get your Mac from the Apple store, they’ll help you set it up in the store for free and do a lot of it for you, where BB won’t do that.

“I always feel like I’m getting ripped off when I buy something from BestBuy.”

Me to, so why go there?

Can you buy online? A lot of Apple products ship free.

if you are buying the macbook pro 13", go to microcenter… they are selling it for $999 which is cheaper than all of the stores. if you are going to buy any other ones, just buy from apple.

Do you get the free 100$ app store gift card if you purchase it at micro center?

no but you save $200 which you can use to buy what ever you want. the apps store gift card is pretty useless and not worth it. when you buy from micro center you still get a free upgrade to lion because they are authorized seller.

One benefit to buying from Best Buy would be the open box items. I got a MBP 13" for $999 plus I got a $100 gift card for Best Buy as their way of compensating for the student discount. Personally, this worked out much better than if I had bought one online because even the refurbished MBP from Apple are more expensive and they run out of stock often. Also, I wouldn’t have had much use for the App Store card or the printer.

So I was able to get my MBP, a InCase Sleeve on clearance for $25 and a 500 GB Hard Drive for $59.99 and still have money left on a gift card for $999 plus tax.

And the only difference between my computer and a new one was that the box was open and the charger didn’t work. I just took my computer to the Apple Store and they replaced it for free, as the computer was still under warranty.
