I live in Bangladesh. I am going to complete my GED test in a few months. Austria is my first choice for my future education. I couldn’t find any information regarding my question on the Internet.
Thanks in advance!
@Pishach I don’t know the answer myself, but I would search the universities’ websites directly for admission requirements.
For example, you are eligible for admission to the University of Vienna (Universität Wien) if you hold one of the following:
*school-leaving certificate
*the Austrian Berufsreifeprüfung
*the Austrian Externistenprüfung
*the Austrian Studienberechtigungsprüfung
I am fairly certain that passing the GED qualifies as possessing a school-leaving certificate (see [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_secondary_school_leaving_qualifications#Americas)). However someone who is more familiar with admissions internationally, or especially one who lives in Austria, could give more advice.
I assume you are familiar with German, right?
To find out what is possible in Austria, you should contact the Education Officer at the closest Consulate of Austria… It looks like there is one in Dhaka: http://www.embassypages.com/missions/embassy2254/ The Education Officer is responsible for providing information about all educational opportunities in that country, and should be able to help you find out what you need to know.

You will have to prove that your school leaving certificate entitles you to admission within your chosen degree programme in the country which issued your secondary education diploma. Frankly, you will have to contact the institution of your choice and submit the documentation you have in order to have this question answered.
No, you won’t be able to study in Austria with an American GED as your sole credential.
Admission requirements for foreign students are stipulated by law in Austria:
- You need a credential that's (at least) equivalent to an Austrian high school diploma ("allgemeinen Universitätsreife")
- You need to qualify for admission to the same degree program you want to study in Austria at a university in your own country, including all admission exams and interviews that are conducted during the admissions process in your own country ("spezifische Universitätsreife")
The GED won’t meet requirement #1. An Austrian high school diploma tests AP-level knowledge.
