Is there any way to get rid of college application fees? (To US colleges)

I know that Ivy Ties is giving away application fees to its members, is there any other giveaways/contests where we can win college application fees? (And even tuition fees? :smiley: )

What?

Nobody just “gives away” application fees to its members. They need to qualify and be verified of their financial need. You are severely mistaken about the “giveaway/contest” by the universities.

Well some schools do waive fees if you apply online or visit or take some other action, it’s not only based on need. And some schools don’t charge a fee at all.

Email the admissions offices at the places you would like to apply to, and ask very politely if it would be possible for them to waive the application fee for you. Sometimes that works.

OP was not talking about the Ivy League or other universities.

If your family makes less than a certain amount of money, which is specified (for example, it’s $39,000 for a family of 4, or $51,000 for a family of 5) or, for a unique reason that your principal or guidance counselor can verify, the family would cause a big burden on your family, you can check “fee waiver” on common app and your counselor can check “fee waiver” on common app and the fee is waived. In addition, some universities have no fee at all. (You can click on the commonapp “members” list, then click on “fee”, and the fees will be arranged from zero to most expensive. There are at least 100 universities where there’s no fee.) For non common app universities, there are forms that are free and available online.
IvyTies is misleading you if they say they hand out fee waivers to their members.

Oh sorry for not being clear! IvyTies is a social network for college applicants. They are not giving away application fees to every members, but only to those who win their contest. The first prize $200 is given to the member with the most number of friends on Ivy Ties. And second prize $75 to a randomly selected member who have a complete profile on Ivy Ties
