I don't know about you all, but I've noticed that psychology plays a role in people's opinions of SAT scores.

For example, I asked around to see if people thought differently of SAT scores where the difference was only around 20-30 points overall. Somehow, a lot of ppl seemed to describe 680 and 690 as "very similar scores, both very solid," Later I asked them what they thought of a 700, and they said: "very high score, high-calber, etc."

ppl just seemed to think no difference between a 680 and a 690, but apparently, there was a considerable difference between a 690 and a 700 to them.

I also later asked them about a 590, 580, a few other scores, and then a 600, I noticed that for the 590 they would say, "above average, but still weak, for good enough for an average college" and for the 600 they would say: "decent score, kind of solid, could be aiming for higher-level colleges"

Again, the ppl thought that there wasn't a considerable difference between a 580 and a 590, but there was one once you got to 600.

What do you all think? Do people differentiate too much between a 690 and a 700 or a 590 and a 600? Is is a natural psychological occurence?
