Well apparently Pitt got all of their housing stuff done super early, because the posted the assignments yesterday. With my rooming assignment (which I wasn't too thrilled about), I was also placed with a random roommate. After finding him on facebook, I sent him a friend request along with a message saying, "Hey man, what's up, I guess were roommates." Its been almost a day and the kid hasn't answered my message, even though he accepted my friend request almost instantaneously. Should I be worried? This kid has a Droid, and my friend tells me that he can't see the private messages that are attached to a friend request (he has one too). If this is the case, should I send him another one? I just don't want to come off as annoying/stalkerish, ya know?

I wouldn’t send him another message. It’s not necessarily a bad sign. Maybe the guy is busy and didn’t have time to answer. I frequently leave messages for a day or two until I have the time and energy to give them my full attention.

I’d give him a few days. He’s probably busy.

I’m just saying, where I live, prom and graduation are this weekend for just about every public school on the island so everyone is busy.

Was the message attached to the friend request?

If it was, then I’d just send it again. Once you get a friend request, if you accept it, then you can no longer see the message. I have this problem all the time.

Yeah, he can’t see the message. If I were him, I’d view that message as just a greeting/introductory message plus, this is why I’m friending you in case you haven’t looked at your rooming assignment message; not really worth an urgent reply, but worth a return introduction within the next few days, depending on how busy I am. Sending another introductory message would seem weird/pushy; trying to fb chat with him within the next few days would not be.

Relax, I didn’t even talk to my roommate until I moved in. It’ll be fine

I wouldn’t worry. He probably just forgot to respond.

My roommate doesn’t even have a facebook. Talk about a bad sign.
