Is this a good college essay idea?

Growing up both of my parents were students and so did not have many parts in raising me, then once they did they put the effort into my two years younger sister and my 10 years younger brother. So through middle school and high school, I had to go through the transition from youth to adulthood without much adult guidance (which would have helped me a lot).

I want to write my essay about my transition from youth to adulthood (freshman year-high school senior year) in terms of the mental process of transitioning between the two stages. It will be based around self-reflection and self-discovery as I went from a youth mindset to an adult mindset. I will also mention that I realize that I am not fully an adult yet, but for now I am in a certain chapter/stage of my life and have many more to come.

If you need more clarification please let me know, but what do you think about this so far?

Be careful not to come off as bitter.

Agree, be sure you don’t have a “poor neglected me” vibe to your essay.

yes, I forgot to mention that I won’t be saying anything about my parents in the essay, it will solely be about my mental transition. I don’t want to sound like a cry baby or anything and I want this essay to be about me and my character development, not about how my parents parented me. Is there anything else I should be careful of? @bjkmom
