Is this a good essay topic?

Hey everyone,
I'm a rising senior and was thinking about what my essay would be about so I can start drafting out some things this summer and I was thinking about this topic:

My love for football, my experience as the captain/quarterback of the team, and what football and my coaches have taught me about life and different life lessons.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

It depends on your writing ability. The topic is very, very, very cliche, but if you manage to make it interesting, you could catch an adcom’s “eye.” Then again, essays usually aren’t super important unless you’re applying to smaller and/or very selective schools.

The advice I gave here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-essays/1162638-cliche-essays-bad.html</a> is an appropriate answer for your question as well.

It’s a little underwhelming. I’m a believer in the art of crafting essays so as that topic really does not matter so yeah like Kdurs11 said, it’s how you write it that makes the difference. With an overdone topic, you’d have to make the essay stand out. And, like Gnarls Barkley says, “add a little pain just in case.”
