Is this a good hook? (for Yale,...)

Hi,
I am from Germany and want to apply to several colleges next year (the college of my dreams is Yale).
I attended a German university during the summer semester 2009, when I was in tenth grade. I visited the course
Basic Course Theoretic Philosophy
and got a mark of 1.7 (best possible mark:1.0, worst possible mark:4.0, possibility to fail).
To get this mark and a certificate, I had to write three essays (each about 1000 words), attend the lectures and appendant tutorials (each weekly) over a period of about half a year.
To study in Germany while being a scholar, I had to get a written allowance of my principal, recommendation letters, personal motivation explanation, good marks,...

So, my question to you is: Can this
impress
an admission dean and help me to get into the college of my dreams (Yale)?
(I know that many American students attend summer schools, so I asked myself if my academic study in Germany is still
special
and will be something special in my application that will distinguish me from other applicants.)

Thank you very much for helping me.

Hmmm…I don’t think that would really be a hook. Top American students take college courses and get good grades pretty frequently.
