I got my PSAT scores in today, and I don't if I should be excited or disappointed.
I got a 202 Selection Index score, a 68 in CR, a 61 in math, and a 73 in writing. I am pretty upset about the math score, I really need to work on getting that up. Aghh I think I am going to have to set my college goals a little lower so I don't disappoint myself... what do you guys think?

That is exactly what I got sophomore year (currently a junior). My break down was 74 Math, 68 writing, 60 reading.

If you start taking the SAT seriously, you’ll do really well by the time you become a junior.

That’s exactly what my D got as a sophomore. By fall of her senior year, she was at 2270 SAT. Like you, her CR and W were her strong points, and she was able to get those way up with her growing familiarity with the test. Her math stayed in the 600s.

Wow. You guys have truly esposued to the unlikely prediction of doing well on the SAT’s based on the PSAT’s. Primarily I think the latter is even harder. Also, I know someone who got a 150 Sophomore year and ended up with a 2280 Junior year (SAT’s). So it IS truly about prep.

My PSAT score went up by 39 points from sophomore to junior year so I wouldn’t worry. Just try to practice if you want to improve. Also, if you don’t make NMF or anything colleges don’t even care about your PSAT scores as long as you do well on the actual SATs. Good luck!
