Hi! So I’m having some trouble deciding what courses to take my senior year. To give you a background of what I’ve taken, here’s my past schedules.
9th grade:
Algebra I
Computer Programming
Italian I
English 9
Environmental Science
Honors World History
Theatre Arts I
(Note: I moved after freshman year so that’s why a lot of the sophomore year classes don’t align with my freshman year.)
10th grade:
American History
English 10
French I
one semester of Intro to Psychology followed by one semester of Parenting Skills
Geometry
Chorus
Biology
11th grade:
French 2
Chemistry
one semester of Journalism I followed by one semester of Business Communications
English 11
Algebra 2 & Trig
AP U.S Government & Politics
Chorus
Okay, so now we’ve gotten that out of the way. Also, I’d like to just say that if I could redo sophomore year I would, because I’m so unhappy with the courses I took. It was a ridiculously easy year.
As for senior year, I’ve got ideas for what I want to take. I definitely want to take more AP classes, probably 3 max though. I’ll go subject by subject and lay out my thoughts.
English: I’ve thought about taking AP Literature, but it’s a lot of reading. At my school they focus on old literature such as Shakespeare. Is it worth it? I may just stick with English 12.
Math: I’m stuck between Pre-Calc or Intro to Statistics.
Science: I know that I’m definitely taking Anatomy.
Social Studies: Here’s where things get tricky. I’m a social studies girl, so I’m planning on taking more than one social studies class. I really wanna take AP Psych, but would that be confusing to take alongside of Anatomy? I’m also debating between AP Euro and AP Human Geography for another slot. Would one of those be confusing to take alongside AP Psych? Which one is worth it?
Electives: I’m not taking a language, so if we add up 1 English, 1 Math, 1 Science and 2 Social Studies, that leaves me with one slot open, since I’m definitely taking Chorus. I’m hoping I can fill that slot with Journalism II, but if I can’t (because that class is based solely on recommendation only), I’m unsure what to fill that with. I’ve thought about AP Art History because it sounds so interesting, but then again, how would that work alongside possibly AP Euro?
Wow, if you’ve made it this far I thank you. Sorry if this is super confusing, but I appreciate any advice you can give me.
