Anyways, is this a good shot for UC Berkeley? I have always dreamed of getting into UC Berkeley ever since I was at a young age. I believe Berkeley will be the only college I will apply for. Despite my love for Berkeley, any advice about my plans for the future?

I live in California btw**

@FailingatFailing UC Berkeley’s in-state acceptance rate was 19.5%. Are you sure you want to apply only to UCB?

I assume you’re a HS freshman; do the best you can in your classes, worry about college apps later.

AP classes are not the be all and end all. Why are you signed up only for APs?

  1. You are only a Freshman and have not even completed one full year of HS, so chill..
  2. Getting into UCB is not whom has the most AP classes
  3. You want to take a rigorous HS course load, but you also need to get very good grades in these courses to be a competitive applicant.
  4. You have no test scores, no EC's listed so no one can make any determination on your chances.
  5. Make sure you have some safety schools, several match schools and a few reach schools on your list. Apply broadly and do not focus on only one school.
  6. Enjoy HS, take advantage of opportunities and stay away from CC until the end of your Junior year.
  7. Do not take 6 AP classes your Senior year, since you will getting applications ready which can be very time consuming. You want to maintain a good GPA Senior year and not face the chance of being rescinded due to overloading your schedule.

I agree with @Gumbymom. You should definitely chill.

  1. You should take a rigorous HS course load and maintain good grades in these courses.
  2. As of now, you should think about looking to some more clubs: having only programming club is going to be very weak.
  3. Think about incorporating your passion of programming into your own service project or maybe even a non-profit; or maybe volunteer for an organization that teaches kids programming.
  4. You should probably apply to more than one college.
  5. We can never predict the future and things will never go as planned: Prepare yourself for failure, but still enjoy your high school years.

High school is about exploring your passions, not just worrying about college admissions! Best of Luck

Focus on doing your best in high school first. In the summer of your junior year you should start thinking of schools you are interested in. A list of AP classes is not at all indicative of the viability of a college application.

are you doing CS? I admire your plan to starting working on your reputation, but I agree with the others. Chill, and AP’s arent everything. Try to start clubs, do more CS stuff other than learning languages. You still have 3 years. but to answer your question, this is a good “start” but dont overload yourself. Other parts of your application is important too. Just try your best and dont stress out now.

Good luck!! You ll be applying by the time I graduate haha.
