Is this a likely email?

Which stats?

i got one, but have no idea what to think about it.

Like, can people post their sats, gpas, a few ecs, whether they are urms or legacies etc? (I am just curious to see why some people got this email and others did not)

We now have a situation where Brown-level applicants are trying to mine the data of recipients of some generic PR email in order to divine if it’s some sort of pseudo-likely letter-email?

Seriously? You all need to get off of CC and stop obsessing over this. What’s done is done. Some of you will get in, some of you won’t. The Mayan apocalypse won’t happen if Brown turns you down. If you’re anywhere close to being a viable Brown applicant, I can say that 99% likely that you’ll all be attending a wonderful college in Sept and are on the path to a super successful college career.

What you need to do is get off of CC until it’s time for your own kids to learn about college. Go enjoy your last semester – you’ve deserved it. Leave with no regrets. Ask out the guys/girls who you were too shy to do so before. Have a blast. Brown won’t make you. That’s the irony. Most viable Ivy applicants don’t realize this.

Go away for about 20 years, okay?

@T26E4

Tee-Hee . . . I couldn’t agree more. I made the mistake of starting the thread from the first email and have since come to my senses and regretted it as it continues to linger. I too see nothing about this 2nd email to glean anything but a generic “keep us in mind,” message. That said, I’m coming from the perspective of a parent whose “cup runneth over,” as my D is having a successful application/acceptance season. I would no doubt be outside myself if she hadn’t heard from a few of her choices by now. Yes, I realize we’ve been lucky and I’m not going to take that for granted, but to all those students and parents who haven’t heard any direct(non-generic) word, hang in there, I feel for you and T26E4 is right. Take a break(I know, easier said than done as this site is highly addictive) and try to enjoy the next month or so as buying into baseless conspiracy theories about generic emails is definitely going to take time off your life expentancy.

I agree with our life expectancies being affected by this. My daughter also received the “Life After Brown” email, but I can’t help but feel that it’s pretty CRUEL for them to send that email to any applicants that really want badly to attend Brown but that will be rejected…isn’t it? I want to believe they are not that cruel and that anyone who received that email has already had their file marked “accepted”…

I thought I was doing okay in this whole “let’s wait 4 months until decisions” business, but I’m apparently doing fantastically. These emails are in no way personalized, why would it be cruel to send them and why would they mean anything? It’s a month, can people not wait that long and stop stressing out?

Well it gets to be cruel when there’s a thread on CC dropping some hints about why the email might mean something, when it appears from the posts here that some people got the email and some didn’t. LOL !

March 29th is the day to wait for; it just makes it worse to stress over an email that probably doesn’t really mean much. Let’s not stress until March 29th comes around then we can panic lol

I don’t know about anyone else, but I got my email today. I would just take it as Brown is trying to impress the applicants, and they want them to know that graduates will be successful for the most part. Its hardly a likely letter.

Just got the email as well

Yep. Son just got it as well.

Just like the last email. Sent in rounds. Just got it. Clearly not a likely letter. Then. Phew.

^ Agreed. I got it 50 minutes ago. Doesn’t seem like a likely letter. I wonder why Lisa Caputo '86 in blue though. Oh and Bobby Jindal is a Brown alumni  I really want to go there now :D

Got it too!

just got it!! I feel so stupid now lol!

Just got one too!

Got it too
lol
this ain’t a likely letter

And we want to go to brown lol Jk (not about wanting to go thing)

I still haven’t received it.
But I suspect that Brown might have read this thread, and saw people freak out. Then they sent it.
