Is this a manageable course load?

Junior Year:

  1. AP Language & Composition (I got 94+ in English II Honors)
  2. Math Analysis H (95+ in Algebra II H and 92+ in Geometry H)
  3. AP Chemistry (97+ in Chemistry H)
  4. Financial Literacy (Half Year)
  5. Organic Chemistry H (Half Year)
  6. AP Computer Science A
  7. Law & Legal Systems (Half Year)
  8. Business Organization & Management (Half Year)
  9. US History I H (Online: to resolve schedule issues)

Yes, it appears manageable. However, the doubling up in science at the expense of a foreign language would concern me.

Are the semester classes DE? If so, then you are taking too many classes. Also, where is the foreign language? You should have four years FL.

I did French 4 and AP French Freshman + Sophomore year

Btw, Our school requires only 1 year of FL, I’m new here, whats DE mean?

“DE” means “dual enrollment”. The more selective colleges usually require 3-4 years of the same foreign language. What classes did you take in your first two years?

I only know organic chemistry as a college course. Do you need to have taken AP chemistry before taking organic chemistry - if so you won’t have the prerequisite class completed.

College admissions can have more requirements than the minimum high school graduation requirements. The higher up you go in selectivity the more apt the school is to expect 4 years of all 5 core classes no matter what the minimum is for high school graduation.

DE is dual enrollment - taking college courses during high school for both high school and college credit - though colleges are not guaranteed to give credit once you attend a different school after graduation

Drop Organic Chemistry. You’re already taking AP Chem and the HS version of OChem is NOTHING like the College version.
Continue with your foreign language - colleges expect 3 or 4 years. (Keep in mind that HS graduation minima are unlikely to be the same as what 4-year colleges expect).

  1. AP Language & Composition (I got 94+ in English II Honors)
  2. Math Analysis H (95+ in Algebra II H and 92+ in Geometry H)
  3. AP Chemistry (97+ in Chemistry H)
  4. Financial Literacy (Half Year)
  5. Organic Chemistry H (Half Year) => REPLACE WITH Law & Legal Systems (Half Year) OR Business Organization & Management (Half Year)
  6. AP Computer Science A
  7. Foreign Language
  8. US History I H (Online: to resolve schedule issues)

Keep foreign language in place of organic chem but otherwise its doable

I agree, ditch OChem.

O Chem isn’t getting a lot of love on this thread. FWIW, my D took H O chem senior year in HS. She has found it helpful to have some exposure before college. YMMV based on the course content and your intended major.

Whenever anyone comes and says “is this a manageable course load” I assume they don’t think it is (otherwise why would they come here?) and then I look for non-essential courses to drop that add to the burden.

I am sure O-chem is helpful but the OP may not want to take it at the expense of doing well in other courses.

I finished Chemistry H sophomore year, it is a pre-req for OChem. I heard it is pretty easy to keep a high A. About the language, isn’t it 4 years of the same language? I already took AP French sophomore year, should I take another language? Ochem is only half-year btw.

If you reached AP French already, you’re fine.

Looks good, but why two chem courses?

Here is my overall course schedule:
I came from a different country and had no knowledge of norms and customs in US education. I had to start from ground zero freshman year.

  3. Environmental Science CP
  4. World History CP
  5. French IV CP
  6. Cartooning & Animation (Half Year)
  7. Music Technology & Applications (Half Year)
AP Environmental Science (Online, 4 on AP exam)

Sophomore Year: COMPLETING (Special thanks to my Guidance Counselor for excellent scheduling)

  1. English II H
    2, Geometry H
  2. Biology H
  3. Algebra II H
  4. AP French
  5. Comp Programming I (Half Year)
  6. Comp Programming II H (Half Year)
Chemistry H (Online, took Chem H midterm/final, 96& on mid and 97 on final)

Junior Year: GOING TO

  1. AP Language & Composition
  2. Math Analysis H
  3. AP Chemistry
  4. Financial Literacy (Half Year)
  5. Organic Chemistry H (Half Year)
  6. AP Computer Science A

    AP Psychology (Online)

Criticize this as much as possible. I want to know what I can do better…

Alright thanks, I did AP French, I’ll be fine then. At our school, Chem H is a prereq for AP Chem and Organic Chem H.

Unless you’re taking Law&Legal systems, Business Organization& Management “for fun”, they’re not considered academic classes. They’re fine but you could replace them with classes that’ll be useful to what you’re interested in, or a new foreign language (had you studied any foreign language beside English in the country you came from? Were you a native or heritage French speaker?)
AP Chem is really hard, no need to take Organic Chemistry.
The “gold standard” is APUSH but if you’re not American and haven’t taken US History before it may be too difficult. Do you have to take 2 years of US History?
If you intend to go into Business, taking Economics (Cp, Honors, or AP) would be important. For Social Science/Humanities, AP Gov (US/Comp) is generally seen as a stronger class (AP Psych is seen as one of the easy APs).

I am not a native French speaker but studied French a lot during my 5th and 6th grade. Yes, it is compulsory for me to take 2 yrs of US History. Business and Law are for fun and to complete my school’s “career education” requirements. Yes, I am weak at US History (Low A’s), I don’t want to overextend myself with APUSH. I am going for a major in Biology (Neuroscience interest) and minor in some form of Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence interest). And yes, later medical school.

I have a cousin who took 1 year of FL and got into an extremely good (selective) college.
